Conclusion of our Lebanon Project 2025 – A review full of humanity and challenges

With your help, we were once again able to set a sign of hope this year in a country shaken by a deep crisis. Thanks to your generous donations, our small local team was able to make a big difference.

Here is our summary:

📊 Distribution of € 32,710 in donations:
– € 17,600 for rent & salaries for two schools
– 6,100 € for the distribution of drinking water and hygiene articles
– 6,960 € direct support for Lebanese families in need
– 1,000 € for school materials in refugee camps
– 2,000 € for empowerment projects with women

🎭 Further activities:
– 12 clown shows for approx. 850 children – laughter as medicine
– 215 personal letters from Austria & Germany for our school children in Beirut – real connection across borders

🧸Relief supplies:
– Over 22,500 kg of donations in kind: Clothing, blankets, hygiene articles, school supplies, toys, wheelchairs & bicycles, and much more. – a strong sign of lived solidarity

❗Challenge: Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing the dark side of international aid: two fully loaded containers with over 20 tons of aid have been blocked by Lebanese customs for almost four weeks. Despite full documentation, arbitrary charges have been demanded that we are unable to pay.

Our Karawanis Meike and Rainer hold daily talks with the authorities. They are supported by other NGOs and the Austrian embassy.
