Words that connect: School letters from Europe for children in Lebanon

Sometimes it doesn’t take grand gestures to touch hearts – sometimes a painted rainbow, a self-written greeting or a small ray of sunshine on paper is enough.

In recent weeks, schoolchildren from Austria and Germany have written letters, drawings and loving messages to schoolchildren in Lebanon. These letters have now been handed over at the two schools we support, “Oxygen” and “Together we can” in Beirut – to children whose everyday lives are characterized by challenges.
For many of the children, the arrival of the colorful mail from Europe was a very special moment. Their eyes lit up, they smiled and felt that someone was thinking of me.
We would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the schoolgirls and their dedicated teachers who have given us hope with their letters. To Manuela Wetzel, Sophie Borckenstein-Quirini and Gabi Hampson from the “Wort” association, who initiated and supported this special campaign. To our loyal donors and sponsors, without whom these schools could not exist. And to all those who believe in the unifying power of humanity.
Every letter is a sign. Every gesture counts. And together we build bridges where there would otherwise be walls.
