Clean water for all – a basic right, not a luxury
Clean water for all – a basic right, not a luxury
In the remote mountain villages around Khost, people, including many schoolchildren, often walk long distances with jerry cans because there is no nearby access to water. Many schools have no drinking water reservoir, and vegetable fields wither when there is no rain.
Our solution in planning: Construction of solar wells connected to the school projects, which pump groundwater from depths of up to 100 meters. Large basins for storage and closed tanks to ensure that the drinking water remains hygienic. The community is closely involved in the planning – this means that the people living there experience a community gain through the local school projects, while at the same time they take responsibility and together we ensure an essential and sustainable supply of drinking water. Some wells have already been successfully put into operation and there is a great need to build more.
In this case, in addition to health and dignity, water also means community and development.
You too can help with the further implementation of these wells – every small amount helps us to purchase and build the pumps, basins or tanks.
