Letters of Solidarity

A very special tradition of the Caravan of Humanity is the letters and drawings that schoolchildren from Austria and Germany give us to take with us on our journey. Once again, we were able to take numerous lovingly crafted messages from Lustenau, Dresden, and Göttlesbrunn with us to Egypt.

With great passion, the children put their thoughts, wishes, and solidarity down on paper. The result is a collection of small works of art full of color, hope, and humanity.

Once there, we were able to hand these letters to children who had been forced to flee the wars in Gaza and Sudan. Their joy was impossible to miss. For many, it was a truly special experience to know that children on the other side of the world were thinking of them and offering them words of encouragement. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to give hope. A few handwritten lines, a colorful drawing, or a kind message can show: You are not forgotten. You are seen. You are part of our shared human family.

These small gestures build connections across national borders, languages, and cultures—and remind us that compassion is a language that everyone understands. Thank you to all the students who brought so much joy with their letters.
