18-year-old Aya has been living in the Kofinou refugee camp in Cyprus for six months. In the interview, she talks about her escape and her current life in the camp.

Around 500 people are currently living in the camp under degrading conditions. Many are awaiting deportation with rejected asylum applications, while others are not allowed to work in most professions in Cyprus and have virtually no prospects.

Through our aid project in October 2024, we were able to support local NGOs in their important project work for these people. We also distributed urgently needed relief supplies on site. With our clown shows and mobile painting rooms, we were also able to give the refugees a laugh and a little peace of mind.
