Confronting the causes of flight with love, hope and humanity

Over the last few weeks, we have tried to give a small insight into the difficult reality of life for Cubans. With the caravan, we are usually where escape has already happened. In Cuba, we were in the exact place where people sell their belongings to leave their country.

People leave their country for a variety of reasons. Some call it escape, some call it emigration. But most of them have one thing in common: they don’t really want to leave their home country, their culture, their social environment, their families and their friends, because they love it all and are not used to anything else. But unfortunately there is a lack of prospects, hope and confidence – just like here in Cuba. And that is exactly what we have tried to give with our modest means: > Marina and the “Niñõs en la frontera” will continue to dance for the coming year. > “La Ventana Al Valle” will continue to offer culture and sport for the residents of Viñales. > “Caliman” will be allowed to flourish as an alternative way of life, not just for Rastafarians. > and “La Luna Naranja” – the orange moon – radiates hope in Santa Clara that things can still go on after all! We have no chance against the destructive power of the US blockade against Cuba, but fortunately love, hope and humanity cannot be sanctioned by any country in the world! Hasta la esperanza siempre!
